What Torment stores about you, why, and who can see it. Torment is a fan-run server; we collect only what running it needs.

What we store

| Password | Never stored as-is. The game’s login system keeps only a one-way code made from it, so nobody, staff included, can read your password. |
| IP address | The login server records the last address each account connected from, and the web server keeps request logs. Used to stop abuse and protect accounts. |
| Game data | Your characters, their items and progress, and your rift results. |
What’s public
Leaderboards show hero names, classes, results and dates. On hardcore realms they also show how a fallen hero died. Account names and emails are never shown publicly.
Bug reports
When you use Report a bug in the launcher, it sends what you wrote plus details that help us find the problem. The launcher shows you exactly what it attaches before you send:
- the launcher version and your client patch
- whether each Torment file matches the current release, and which extra addons you kept
- your realmlist
- the game’s latest crash log, if you leave it ticked. Your Windows user name is removed from it first.
Reports are stored as private issues in Torment’s GitHub repository, which only staff can see.
Cookies
The site uses one cookie to keep you logged in, which lasts longer if you tick “Keep me logged in”. There are no ads and no tracking cookies.
We count visits with our own analytics, which runs on Torment’s server and uses no cookies. It records which pages are viewed, the site a visitor came from (a search engine, a server list, Discord), their country, and their device and browser type. It can’t identify you, it doesn’t store your IP address, and nothing is sent to anyone else.
Who can see it
Torment staff, when running the server and handling support. We don’t sell or share your data. Account and password emails are sent by Torment’s own server. Two outside services handle parts of it for us:
- GitHub, for bug reports
- our server host
How long we keep it
Account and game data, including the last address you logged in from, stay while your account exists. Web server logs are deleted after 30 days. Bug reports are deleted 6 months after they’re closed.
Your choices
You can ask staff to delete your account and its data by opening a ticket on the Torment Discord.
You must be 13 or older to create an account.
